Plant Music Concerts

Masterplants Orchestra is one of the worlds first Plant Music Orchestras.

By combining biofeedback technology with sound engineering, we can hear plants play actual music.

Masterplants Orchestra takes plant music to a new level by making full-scale plant concerts with up to 8 plants playing simultaneously.
Sometimes involving human musicians, giving birth to interspecies music.

Technology in Harmony:

Recorded using our custom, open-source Symphony and BECA interfaces, this album showcases the power of multi-plant polyphony. Our technology measures micro-voltage fluctuations within plant physiology—driven by photosynthesis and water movement—and converts them into real-time MIDI data. This is a true collaboration where human musicians listen and respond to the plant’s cues, creating a non-hierarchical dialogue between species.

Secret Garden: An Interspecies Symphony

Step into the "Secret Garden," the latest work from the Masterplants Orchestra. This album is not just a collection of songs; it is a melodious and environmental, uprising and a sonic window into the hidden processes of the botanical world.

The Music of Connection:

In a time of ecological calamity, Secret Garden serves as a life-affirming response, facilitating humanity’s return to nature . Each of the tracks features biological data captured directly from living plants and translated into the language of human music. By connecting electrodes to the leaves and roots of diverse species, we have allowed the plants to drive the scales and harmonies you hear throughout the album .

What is Plant Music?

Plant music, is music played by plants. With technology, plants have the possibility to express themselves through the language of human music. Their natural electric currents are measured and divided into scales and rhythms easily understood by humans.

Plant music is a versatile art form which includes nature and environment, science and technology, music, myth, spirituality and direct experience.

How does it work?

By connecting two electrodes to a plant we are able to measure electric resistance within its physiology.

These measurements are converted by an algorithm into digital information about music, and sent into a device that generates sound, like a smartphone, computer or instrument.

This way plants can play music.

Who we are

Masterplants Orchestra is a run by Tritone Crisantemo from the Community of Damanhur in Northern Italy. His intrinsic connection with nature technical knowledge and sensitive musicality, has created the rare possibility for the creation of advanced Symphonic Plant Music.

Since 2018 Tritone has been touring the world, professionally applying plant music as performances and in educational contexts, working with a wide variety of projects from 3D sound systems to Holistic Festival and schools in the US, India, Europe and Africa.

The unique nature of Symphonic Plant Music makes it perfect for learning about subjects like environment, nature awareness, technology, art and music.
